Where:

  • Assembly Occupancy- Greater than 100 person occupancy
  • Lobby or Exit of any public building
  • Care, Treatment or Detention Facilities

Which Test:

  • NFPA 701
  • NFPA 705
  • Title 19 Division 1, Chapter 8 and NFPA Life Safety Code
  • CAN/ULC S-109 Small and Large Scale
  • NFPA 260
  • California TB-117
  • ASTM E84

When:

Fire Codes generally require NFPA 701 when new fabrics are purchased and NFPA 705 on an on-going basis to ensure continued protection. Typically fabrics should be cleaned and re-treated with flame retardant every 5 years.
